- State the role, pay, start date, hours, probation and reporting line clearly.
- Conditions
- Make any conditions (references, eligibility, medical) explicit and pre-acceptance.
- Follow with a contract
- Issue a full written contract of employment for engagements beyond the statutory threshold — the offer letter is not a substitute.
Execution requirements
- The employer signs; the candidate signs to accept.
- Provide written particulars of the contract — a contract beyond the statutory threshold must be in writing (Employment Act s.59).
- Keep a signed copy on file and proceed to the full contract of employment.
