THE APPROPRIATION ACT, 2007.

An Act to apply a sum of four thousand six hundred and twenty billion, sixty five million, two hundred nineteen thousand shillings out of the Consolidated Fund to the service of the year ending on the 30th June, 2008 and to appropriate the supplies granted.

DATE OF ASSENT: 25th September, 2007.

Date of Commencement: 1st July, 2007.

BE IT ENACTED by Parliament as follows:

This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of July, 2007.

The Treasury may issue out of the Consolidated Fund and apply towards the supply granted to the Government for the service of the year ending on the 30th June, 2008, the sum of four thousand six hundred and twenty billion, sixty five million, two hundred nineteen thousand shillings.

The sums granted by this Act shall be appropriated for the services and purposes in the amounts specified in columns 1 and 2 of the Schedule to this Act.

Any part of the sums granted by section 2 of this Act which has been, or is issued from the Consolidated Fund on or before the 30th day of June, 2008 shall be available until a date determined by the Secretary to the Treasury (not being later than the 31st day of October, 2008) for making payments which become due during the year ending on the 30th day of June, 2008 to an accounting officer or a receiver of revenue or to an officer administering a fund established under section 9 of the Public Finance and Accountability Act, 2003.

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred on the Minister responsible for finance by section 10 of the Stamps Act, this Instrument is made this 25th day of September, 2007.

This Instrument may be cited as the Stamps (Exemption from Stamp Duty) (Further Charge by Quality Chemical Industries Ltd) Instrument, 2007.

The stamp duty chargeable under section 2 of the Stamps Act and payable by Quality Chemical Industries Ltd. in respect of a further charge over property comprised in LRV 3484, Folio 8, Plots 1-7, First Ring Road; Plots 4-8 Second Ring Road; 10 Third Ring Road, Plots 2-6 Second Link Road; Plots 9-11 First Ring Road; 1 First Link Road and 10 Second Ring Road at Luzira as a security for a loan of US$ 4,000,000 from Barclays Bank of Uganda Limited is exempted.
