SCHEDULE Treaty Establishing the Common Market fo r Eastern and Southern Africa THE COMMON MARKET FOR EASTERN AND SOUTHERN AFRICA TREATY (IMPLEMENTATION) ACT, 2017. An Act to give the force o f law in U ganda to the Treaty E stablishing the Com m on M arket for Eastern and Southern Africa; and to provide for related m atters. W h e r e a s , the Republic of Uganda becam e a M em ber o f the Com m on M arket for Eastern and Southern A frica (CO M ESA ) on the 5th day o f November, 1993, when the President o f the R epublic o f U ganda signed, together with other High Contracting Parties, the Treaty for the Establishm ent of the Com m on M arket for Eastern and Southern Africa; A n d w h e r e a s the G overnm ent o f the Republic o f U ganda duly ratified the Treaty in accordance with clause (2) o f article 76 o f the 1967 Constitution o f the Republic o f U ganda as required by Article 194 o f the Treaty; A n d w h e r e a s it is expedient to give the force o f law to the Treaty in Uganda; D a te o f A s s e n t : 2 2 n d A p r il, 2 0 1 7 . Date o f Commencement: 25th A ugust, 2017. N ow t h e r e f o r e , be it enacted by Parliam ent as follows:
