Section 6: Expiry of the import permit

(1) An import permit issued under regulation 4, shall be valid for six months from the date of issue and shall only be used for the prescribed entry point and specified consignment. (2) Notwithstanding sub regulation (1), the Commissioner responsible for crop inspection and certification may, on application, extend the validity of an import permit for a further period of six months upon payment of a fee prescribed in Schedule III. (3) The application for extension under sub regulation (2), shall be made in writing to the commissioner with justifiable reasons at least one month before the expiry of the import permit.
