Section 65: Use of information in the register

(1) The information in the register shall be used for- (a) issuing national identification cards and alien's identification cards; (b) issuing passports; (c) immigration and passport control; (d) national security purposes; (e) statistical purposes; (f) monitoring money laundering and human trafficking; (g) taxation purposes; (h) law enforcement; (i) public administration; (j) providing social services, including social security services, health, education and welfare benefits; (k) facilitating the provision of information to a person entitled to receive the information; or (l) any other purpose as may be determined by the Minister. (2) The Electoral Commission may use the information contained in the register to compile, maintain, revise and update the voters register. (3) For the purposes of this section, a ministry, department or agency of Government may access and use the information contained in the register.
