Interpretation
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires (a) "appointments board" means the appointments board established under section 4 ;
"deputy inspector general" means the Deputy Inspector General of Government appointed under section 3 ;
"inspector general" means the Inspector General of Government appointed under section 3 ;
"public office" includes-
a Government department, undertaking or service;
a company in which the Government has shares;
a public corporation;
the Cabinet;
Parliament;
a court of law;
the Uganda Police Force;
the Uganda Prisons Service;
a school, college or other public institution of learning;
the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces;
a district administration;
a local council or a committee of the local council;
an urban authority;
a municipal council or a committee of the municipal council;
a trade union;
a cooperative society;
a political party;
a council, board, society or committee established by law for the control and regulation of any profession;
a commission, association or similar body whether corporate or not, established by law, for the purposes of administering public funds in any form, or for the purposes of promoting-
public health;
public undertakings or public utility;
education;
sports;
culture;
literature;
science;
art; and
any other office that offers service to the public or that administers funds on behalf of the public or a part of the public;
"public officer" means a person serving a public office; and
"secretary" means the secretary in the office of the Inspector General of Government, appointed under section 3 .
